BECAUSE A SILENT HEART ATTACK ISN’T DRAMATIC

“Just like the name implies, a silent heart attack is a heart attack that has either no symptoms or minimal symptoms or unrecognized symptoms,” says Deborah Ekery, M.D., a clinical cardiologist at Heart Hospital of Austin and with Austin Heart in Austin, TX. “But it is like any other heart attack where blood flow to a section of the heart is temporarily blocked and can cause scarring and damage to the heart muscle.” For more than 4 months, Mrs.Kapoor (52) felt exhausted through out the day. Displeased with everything, her children were worried for her ill-temper. They urged her to go to the doctor but she kept making excuses. One day before leaving for a family gathering, she became more restless with tears in her eyes. She was finally taken to the hospital by her kids where the doctor ordered an electrocardiogram (EKG). Result showed that Mrs.Kapoor had suffered a so-called “silent heart attack” at some indeterminate point, perhaps months earlier.

Though silent heart attack is most common among women and people with diabetes, but it can happen to anyone. The fact is: Heart disease has the highest mortality rate among women, causing 1 in 3 deaths each year. That’s approximately one woman every minute!

WARNING SIGNALS

  •  Unexplained fatigue
  •  Indigestion
  •  Shortness of breath and/or discomfort in the throat, neck, jaw
  •  Heartburn

What to do during a silent heart attack?

The term “silent” in a silent heart attack is the complicating factor—often, women don’t realize they’re experiencing a medical emergency. If you do notice symptoms of a silent heart attack, try to stay calm and call for ambulance immediately. When you get to the hosptial, make it clear that you think you may be having a heart attack and not an anxiety attack. Advocate for yourself or, if you can, bring along someone who will advocate for you.

A silent heart attack can be just as dangerous as its more obvious counterpart. Because it often leaves scarring and damage to the heart, it puts the person at greater risk of other heart problems. And because the person didn’t know to seek treatment, blood flow to the heart

might not have been restored early on, and no medications were administered, so the impact could potentially be greater.

The Travel Time for Hospital is approximately 2-3 hours. What if something unfortunate happens at that time? What if the pain has increased before any tests can be arranged? Our team cares for all such delicate situations. The key is to detect this on its very onset. To do so, you need to measure it with Sanket. This award winning innovation, measures your ECG and connects you with your doc instantly. The test is done in 15 Seconds. The report can be sent for review immediately. Sanket thus diffuses any confusion of a normal pain from a heart attack.

Don’t let Junk Food make your child STRESSED!

Rohit, a cute and shy 13 year old had no signs of cheer returning home. Internally, he was disheartened for the race he lost in his school.  He was overweight and was body-shamed by a bunch of brats who made fun of his bulging belly. Heart-broken Rohit used to lay on his bed watching TV and had chips, noodles and soft drinks. Because of this stress, he made poor choices in food. He clinged to junk food that made him lethargic and reduced his immunity power. This further made him lose his focus in studies. Slowly, such insults made him lose his focus from studies too. His rank dropped from 2nd position to 15th. His parents felt helpless and worried as Rohit was behaving increasingly strange.  They wondered if they could do anything to help him, only had they known that all they needed was a stress management tool.
Schooling years, being an important phase of life, absolutely require proper nutrition and calm mind. These students go through immense stress because of peer pressure, examinations, appearances, getting noticed and even lack of attention from their loved ones. Many a times, these innocent beings start over-eating or skip meals because of stress. Children afflicted by sustained poor nutrition are at a greater risk of obesity, mental and emotional health problems, and a failure to thrive academically. Let me point out some:
  • ObesityThis is especially true of children who regularly consume fast food. According to the Lerner Center for Public Health Promotion, obesity in children can lead to conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer and a variety of other health problems. Obesity can also result in a negative self-image, eating disorders, a decreased quality of life and other long-term psychosocial problems that are extremely difficult to reverse.
  • Mental and Emotional Health A study in the “Indian Journal of Psychiatry” in 2008 noted a link between iron deficiency and hyperactivity disorders in children. Iodine deficiency has also been linked to multiple developmental impairments. Certain nutritional habits that children may be prone to, such as skipping meals or overindulging in sugary foods, have also been linked to depression. Additionally, these mental and emotional health problems in children are often reinforced by obesity and low self-esteem, which may be the result of poor nutrition.
  • Education When a child does not get the required amounts of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients for health, it could lead to lethargy, a lack of energy and a general failure to thrive. The World Bank notes an association between improper childhood nutrition and lower IQ levels as well.
  • IllnessPoor nutrition and obesity have the potential to result in many long-term, chronic illnesses.
It is a proven fact that children these days go through much more stress than adults do. This means stress management for children is an important topic for parents to understand. The first step to combat Stress is by having good nutrition. According to MayoClinic.com, ingredients in the food that your child eats, fuel many of the factors that affect their behavior. Kids who eat healthy are able to cope with stress and regulate their emotions better, says the American Psychological Association. We all know, how vital fruits, green vegetables, milk, eggs and almonds among others are for kids. The problem today is, 90% of kids find nutritious food very boring to eat. As a parent, you should ensure that your kid is taking the right amount of nutrition. A parent should be use his creative skills during food presentation. Involving him during food planning is not a bad idea either. Stress disrupts not only your child’s overall performance but makes them prone to heart disease as well.
The key is to detect and manage stress on its very onset. To do so, you need to measure it with Sanket. This award winning innovation, along with measuring your ECG and connecting you with your doc instantly, also measures your stress levels. Rohit now knows how to tackle his mental conflicts and the importance of good diet and exercise. He regained his 2nd position and lives confidently. If you want your child to overcome all such obstacles, gift him a Sanket instead of worthless expensive gadgets.

Is the MONSTER STRESS sipping on your health-Keep Calm & Eat Right

According to Everyday Health, Stress has been linked to biochemical changes that can trigger cravings and lead to obesity. So, did you ever find yourself with sweaty hands during your exams or on a first date? Ever felt your heart racing during a horror movie? Then you know you can feel stress in both your mind and body. Be it meeting deadlines at work, delivering presentations, waiting for some good news or sitting at home with no work, we all have felt it entering in our veins progressively. Between work, family and other commitments, stress is a common part of life.
Stress results in poor decision making when it comes to/about/regarding food intake. Unaccounted increase in coffee intake, reaching out for cigarette/alcohol may look like stress-busters but are actually incubators of greater stress and unsound health. Some go for mindless munching on junk foods that leads to obesity while others start skipping meals which also affects health adversely. American Heart Association states – “Being obese puts you at a higher risk for health problems such as heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes and more”. A study published in the noted medical journal Lancet says India is just behind US and China in this global hazard list of top 10 countries with highest number of obese people. Obesity is most common among school kids due to exam as well as peer pressures. Other obese people suffer with low self-esteem due to rejections in both personal as well as professional life.
For those, who skip meals, their health becomes worse. They become (Anorexic) more vulnerable to sickness and other health problems. Human body is an air-cooled machine; it uses energy every second, even if you are sleeping. Since your body uses at least a certain amount of energy each day, this energy must come from chemical energy stored in food, or chemical energy stored in your body’s fat and muscle.
The best solution for eating right to reduce stress?  Low-fat, high-fiber, carbohydrate-rich meals with plenty of fruits and vegetables. They soothe us without sapping our energy and give us the nutrients we need to boost our immune system.
When we are stressed the following happens:
  • Blood pressure rises
  • Breathing becomes more rapid
  • Digestive system slows down
  • Heart rate  rises
  • Immune system goes down
  • Muscles become tense
  • We do not sleep (heightened state of alertness)
It is not always about managing stress what’s more important is how you measure it. Do you know how can you tame this monster? WHAT IF I TELL YOU CAN MANAGE YOUR STRESS AT HOME ITSELF? WHAT IF YOU CAN STOP ANY ADVERSE HEALTH IMPACTS DUE TO IMBALANCED NUTRITION? Now, you can with Sanket.
Sanket is World’s Smallest ECG monitor that along with measuring your complete ECG and connecting you with your doc, also measures your stress levels.  By measuring your stress level, anyone can help not only oneself but complete family too. Both measurement and management of stress is vital for a better Heart and mind wellbeing. To conclude,
“Eating right is just as important as managing stress
because vulnerability to stress increases with poor diet”

Heat stroke is no thrill, rather it can kill

Summers are back and so is heat. Be it a short walk on the beach or an endless bike ride, summers beyond a doubt, set out one’s heart on fire. Summers bring happy times and good sunshine.

But summers do bring heat along with them. The extreme heat ruins the joy of summers. No one draws a conclusion to hiked up body temperature. I had a similar experience and a day after while I was surfing the internet about it, I had a realization of it being a close call to a heat stroke.

Heat Stroke is a form of hyperthermia in which the body temperature of a person rises drastically leading to heavy perspiration. It is a case of medical emergency and can put an end to one’s life if not treated promptly and properly.

Avoiding Heat-strokes

Heat Strokes can entirely be avoided from developing. Here’s how

  • Wear loose and light clothes and stay in the shade.
  • Avoid overworking and drink a quarter fluids an hour to avoid dehydration.
  • Keep away from hot and jam-packed places.
  • Avoid caffeine containing stimulants as they can speed up dehydration.
  • Eat fruits and salads that are rich in water content.

First aid and treatment to Heat Stroke victim.

Heat strokes can hit anyone and everyone should be acquainted with the knowledge of what is to be done in case of a Heat Stroke.

  • If you suspect a Heat Stroke, call for an emergency.
  • Till the paramedics arrive, shift the person to cool surroundings.
  • Sprinkle water over the skin or clothing or keep a damp cloth on the back of the neck.
  • Fan the person to lower his body temperature.
  • Place ice packs on the patient’s neck and back.
  • Avoid giving stimulants to the sufferer such as coffee as they speed up dehydration.

Effects of Heat Strokes

Heat Strokes generally occur during a heat wave and can also be caused during the course of heavy physical exercise. A heat stroke can cause various effects resulting in nausea, vomiting, rapid and shallow breathing with rapid heartbeat. The patient’s skin may turn red, hot and dry and can cause throbbing headache. Muscle weakness, cramps, lack of sweating despite the heat are other symptoms.

The effect of heat on the heart

Heat-Strokes are an indication to Heart problems. They prove fatal in up to 80% of the cases and rest 20% develop into critical heart problems. Rapid and shallow breathing accounts to deterioration of heart’s health. Infants and elderly people are at the greatest risk of being hit by it.

Heart medications like beta blockers, ace receptor blockers, ace inhibitors, calcium channel blockers and diuretics can expand in heat. Also, skin/blood response in heart patients is significantly impaired for heat exposures.

In the hot weather, people, especially elders, are at the risk of developing dehydration problems. In the course of dehydration, blood becomes concentrated. On the contrary heart rate has to rise to meet the body’s demands and to lower the body’s temperature. This can trigger a heart attack. Attaining a clear picture of heart rhythm can give a report of one’s heart health. It accounts for the need of an ECG to have a check on electrical and muscular functions of heart.

Sanket, the World’s smallest ECG monitor helps to capture ECG in the simplest steps. One can measure his heart rate with the pocked sized device. In situations where symptoms appear only for a shorter duration, ECG can be checked to find the cause of those symptoms. To know more about the device, visit

Silent Heart Attack : Take care of mother’s heart; it only spreads Love.

Avinash recently returned home from his deployment. His mother was so happy to see him as she always misses him and keeps worried about his health. On returning, Avinash noticed of sudden dizziness and fatigue in his mother. His mother told that she is experiencing this frequently. They drove to their doctor’s clinic and the doctor took her ECG. The test showed that his mother had suffered a so-called silent heart attack.

A heart attack might also happen with symptoms that are easy to miss. Just as the name suggests, a silent attack is a heart attack that has either no or minimal or unrecognized symptoms. But, it is like any other Heart attack where blood flow to a certain section of heart is temporarily blocked and can cause scarring and damage to heart. With subtle symptoms, it is difficult to tell if a person is experiencing a heart attack.

Women are more prone to silent heart-attacks. Usually, they ignore the symptoms for minor problems and break free of the check-ups. But, a Silent attack is as dangerous as a more obvious counterpart.

Symptoms of a silent heart attack

  • The person feels extremely tired
  • Nausea and vomiting attack at once
  • It feels like a heartburn
  • The person gets dizzy

With such symptoms, your mother needs a check on her heart’s health. She might need to run to the hospital everytime she experiences such symptoms. The foremost medical attention is an ECG. After an ECG is done, it might come out that the person has suffered an attack weeks or even months ago causing severe damage to heart.

Turning a blind eye to Chest pain.. What if ??

Heart Diseases are something which gained my least attention as I practice a routine workout and a healthy diet but in march 2012, when i was 40 years old, a heart disease found me. It started with the classic chest pain while I was working my evening shift. For the general protocol, I overlooked it as a symptom of indigestion. Who knew I was experiencing a heart attack; lucky enough to survive with the intake of an aspirin.

The other day, on the same routine I suffered the same pain. Something was not right in the place. But for a busy schedule, I again went for the aspirin intake and it worked fine for another time. Had I got myself assessed with a clear picture of what happened on my inside, I would not have suffered the heart attack in the following week, turning it to a different story altogether.

Most of us, overlook chest pain for indigestion and other insignificant diseases which in turn proves to be a case of developing heart attacks and other crucial heart diseases. If assessed in the starting stage, one can hold back himself from being hit with the deadly heart attack. This happens to a great extent with elderly people, people who are out of reach of a hospital within the initials moments of the pain.

This accounts for a need of a device that would bring out the clear picture of the heart during the course of pain and other problems that vanish from sight, making it difficult to connect the parts to the disease. With Sanket, the world’s smallest ECG monitor, one can monitor himself in simple steps to attain ECG within seconds. At the time when one experiences symptoms, the person can capture his ECG with the help of the device and share it with the doctor to have a proper diagnosis of the actual disease.

The device has been built keeping in mind with the people especially elders, who cannot visit a doctor for a routine watch of their health. The interface and operating methodology is as effortless as using any electrical appliance at a home. Within 15 seconds, all you get is pain-free and hassle-free response of your heart’s electrical and muscular functions. From capturing the ECG, to measuring stress levels, the use of device is a child’s play.

Why Sanket when you have hospitals?

  • The complete 12 Lead ECG in 3 minutes.
  • Abandons the use of gels and wires.
  • Efficient for timely monitoring.
  • Throws over the need to visit doctor’s clinic for trivial complaints.

Why fall behind the quantum leap when you can be a part of it? Here’s how can you make your way.
